A new life for Adrian Rogan It’s business as usual at the Pack Horse Stores as Ann and Duncan have
handed over the reins to the Rogan family from South Road.
Adrian and Sue are wishing to promote this quaint and busy little place as a cheese and deli spot, building on the established reputation for fine produce. They will not be making any immediate changes and just want to see local produce, good food, somewhere nice to visit that is friendly and full of life.
Adie Rogan is a writer. His latest book, 1314 has just been published by Hayloft Books. This is the sequel to Northern Warrior published in 2001, featuring our local knight Sir Andreas de Harcla of Hartley Castle. Based on historical fact and set just after the battle of Bannockburn when the English were defeated by the Scots. War, politics and love in this troubled border period.
His poetry has been published in Poetry Monthly and earlier this year his first book of poetry called Avalon Ballroom, written with Mike Yates, was published and well received nationally.
Between cutting and weighing out cheeses, Adie will be writing the third in the Sir Andreas de Harcla trilogy called The Siege.
It’s a family affair and Andie and Sue’s son Paddy has been roped in.
Paddy Rogan is making a name for himself with his music. He plays acoustic guitar and sings folk and blues all over the North West. Perhaps Paddy can be persuaded to give us a song as you shop for your freshly sliced bacon.
No doubt his brother and sister at Liverpool University and little sister at school will be making an appearance in the holidays. We wish them all good luck with their new venture.
PS, the pork pies are brilliant.
