It’s a family affair at the Pennine Hotel. The new guys in town are Craig Gardiner running the bar and his sister Fiona, who will be in charge of the catering.

The pair have emigrated from Sunderland and are very happy to settle in Kirkby Stephen with their family. They are looking forward to being part of the community.

Whilst both are quite young, they have had lots of experience in the catering Industry which will help them with their new venture. Dad, Stephen Gardiner, will also be moving in to help out, more about him later.

The brewery has completed some essential repairs and it's hoped all decorating will be finished before Christmas.

Craig is considering a sporting theme in the pool table area, for the other side he is looking for old Kirkby Stephen prints to do a then and now display with the help of his father who is a professional photographer and can be found at www.gardinerphotography.co.uk.

Traditional pub fare will complete the picture.

Craig is working with the brewery considering plans for an improved smoking area out the front. Upstairs, they face a winter surrounded by builders and decorators with a refurbishment plan including additional rooms en suite.

Stephen has plans to offer photography holidays once the rooms are ready. We certainly have lots of beautiful places to photograph in our area; perhaps we’ll see some results on Kirkby Stephen Online.

Welcome to Kirkby Stephen.
