For the 765th thousand time ...  ‘did the earth move for you?’. I went to wake my son on Wednesday morning and he said we’d had an earthquake last night about 1 am. Well I was fast asleep and didn’t feel a thing.

News reports said that dogs were heard to bark just before it struck and cats went into hiding. Our dog didn’t start barking until about 7.30 am. Was he feeling the after-shock?

I hear tell that Kirkby Stephen had its own earthquake in the Dent Fault in 1970, perhaps some of you will be able to tell us incomers what happened that day.  It might make interesting reading. Email info@kirkbystephenonline.org.uk
