Kirkby Stephen will be representing Cumbria in this year's “Britain in Bloom” competition - a good thing the town's Garden Trail committee decided to keep their event going for 2007...

2007 Garden Trail - 28/29 July 2007

copper beech tree in garden Last October a Kirkby Stephen Garden Trail committee meeting decided to continue the event in 2007 to support the town’s entry in the “Britain in Bloom” competition. It was an excellent decision.

The effort has paid off royally, as Kirkby Stephen will be representing Cumbria in the national competition, shortlisted as a finalist in the large village category.

The 2007 trail is almost here, planned for the weekend of 28/29 July 2007. Maps will be available from the Tourist Information Centre in Kirkby Stephen from early July.

Gardens will be open each day from 11.00 until 16.00, and new gardens are welcome. Please contact the committee  through mikej.walker@virgin.net or on 07887 547968.

For two years now the Garden Trail has been non-competitive, and committee members report that this appears to be more acceptable to participants.

The committee is looking for further gardens to enter the 2007 trail, especially for visitors to walk-round.
