Nestled on North Road, Kirkby Stephen by the mini roundabout is the Holistic Health Centre, pleasantly situated in a large terraced house; the modest and unassuming frontage belying the healing that takes place within.

The Holistic Health Centre offers a comprehensive range of therapies, so wide-ranging that they should not be brushed aside and dismissed as just complementary.

The most popular therapy has to be the massage, but which one?

The remedial and sports massages start at £20 per half hour or £33 per hour.  If you thought that you would be pummelled into submission by some enormous bloke you are entirely mistaken.  There are three therapy rooms all beautifully decorated to put you at ease.

Combine that with the three main therapists: Jen, Dave and Tim, who will soothe and ease your aching muscles and joints so that you float out the building.  It is perfect for walkers, particularly on the Coast to Coast walk, to soothe tired feet and painful joints.

Remedial and sports massage are not the only therapies on offer.  Indian Head and Shiatsu massage are also available for £33 per hour,  however, my personal favourite has to be the aromatherapy massage.

Ranging from £25-£40 depending upon if you are having just your limbs done or a full body massage, it is just heavenly and for an hour and a half for the treatment, it is delicious piece of self indulgence.

Clients have been known to fall asleep during the massage, it is that relaxing!

Cranial sacral massage, reiki and thermo aricular therapy (hopi candals) round off the range of complementary therapies.  These range from £35-£45 per hour.

This is not all the Holistic Health Centre has to offer.

Neuro linguistic programming, the type Paul McKenna uses, is available to help with a wide range of problems, from self confidence issues to stopping smoking and cost £45 per hour.

There is lymph drainage available both for the full body of just the face; superb for either medical oedema or to freshen up your face.  Feldenkrais awareness is also available at £45 per hour.

Still it does not stop.  The Holistic Health Centre is just the place for a manicure or pedicure, making it the ideal location for a girls day out or just some ‘me' time.

There is a sauna and Jacuzzi, on hire at £14 per hour, and as it is private, it is a perfect place to unwind with your partner or a small group of friends.  However, prior booking is advisable for this facility as it is very popular.

In essence the Holistic Health Centre is an ideal place to go for all aches and pains and all the pampering that you need.

You can surprise a loved one by buying one of their gift vouchers and it makes the perfect present as they can choose the therapy of their choice.

If you are uncertain which treatment would be best for you, there is a 15-minute free consultation to better understand your needs and which therapy would be best for your individual situation.

Couple this with the other delights of Kirkby Stephen and you know that you have found a real gem.
